Having updated the land for sale list on the portal a last time I resign from this volunteer job.
Facit: that list is of little use mirroring SL viewer and Hippo with considerable delay, displaying incorrect data on and off. Which is worse but just no data.
I recommend to drop the aspiration of completeness and use the link to exemplarily promote what we consider our best developed and most attractive parcels only, pointing to the viewer functions in all remaining cases.
Let me take the opportunity to draw your attention to a much more important necessity which offers a field of opportunities for volunteering truely worth the effort: to keep the tier boxes in sync with the "about land" state.
The decision whether to unlink and replace or enter and edit that page I leave to the head of the exec. Thanks for bearing me. TM

Re: Resignation
Thank you Tanoujin for your efforts on the "land for sale" project. I think those efforts, and the frustration, just point to the need for some kind of automated system, because matters change so frequently that a human person cannot keep up. Of course, this is a programming job. But it's one I think beginning to be possible, because the LSL scripting language, I THINK... not sure... now includes a programming flag for the state of a parcel: "For Sale". We should put that on the "to do" list.
But very important is the second part of your statement. Back when it was proposed to switch to the Hippo system of tier collection, it was clear that the Hippo system had many advantages. But it had one huge problem, that there was no connection at all between the status of the Hippo box (i.e. was it being paid, and therefore occupied, or was it not being paid, and therefore "For Sale"), and the status of the parcel of land (i.e. was it "For Sale" or "not for sale"). I was very worried about this problem then, and said so many times.
Well, as Tan points out, the problem is still there. Maybe not so bad as I worried, but that might be because of Tan's and Trebor's and Tor's and Lilith's tireless efforts. It is the rare departing resident who both sets the parcel for sale, AND also sets the Hippo box so that it goes to its "For Sale" state once they've left (either "Will Not Renew" or "Request Refund"). Every time a change happens in which both of these things are not done, someone of us must go in and set things straight.
So... yes. Let me please strongly echo Tan's request for volunteers to monitor the land sale state of both boxes and parcels. There is no way to program this (other than convincing Hippo to make the changes in their boxes). We NEED volunteers to monitor parcels in their areas and make sure that when someone leaves a parcel the settings are kept in sync.

Re: Resignation
Of course I will go on to report what I find on my way. But to check 5 Sims in a "spring clean" manner is too much for one person. Call for that, and I will take one sim on a weekend - once per term
What do you think, how much would it be to "persuade" the hippo people to script us something? Are you in touch with them? Anyone who has understood the problem and seen the workload of the hippo managers would surely agree to invest in such a software...

Re: Resignation
Sudane, I am still happy to be rid of that "for sale" list, but not so much to leave the sync issue behind.
I wrote lists and tried to make others work with little feedback - if we talk about frustration, much talk, meager results tend to frustrate me, but that was balanced: to walk and read the Sims is still enjoyable to me.
If you want to give me the buttons I need to clean up right away and break me in: viable, I will ask for permission. I would stick to guidelines. We already started to develop them. Continue?
