Date of importance: Sat 1st of Dec 11:15 am (20:15 MEZ) first meeting of 18th RA
There is an appointment to swear the new representatives in:
Explanation (quoting Delia 1st of december 2011):
"The affirmation of office is a public declaration that in the office to which you have been duly elected, you will solemnly affirm to uphold the Constitution of the CDS and take the duties of the RA seriously."
Text of RA Affirmation to be read into local chat on request of the SC member performing the ceremony. (In case you would like to have it ready on your clipboard):
I, [insert your name] having been elected as a Member of the Representative Assembly of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties as such to the best of my ability, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, and that I will preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Confederation of Democratic Simulators.
Suggestion (just 5 ct, none of my business): designated representatives indisposed on that date could be sworn in on occasion of subsequent transscripted meetings to make sure those acts appear on the records?
Footnote: I invite everyone to discuss my affiliation with the executive (being a trainee with carefully restricted authority) from the perspective of separations of powers before I was sworn in. Please open a separate thread for that if you feel the need.
Suggestions for agenda (an attempt to be of help by helping myself)
1. Elect LRA.
I will nominate or second a move to elect Shep Titian in recognition of her experience/ability for reasons of continuity.
2. Volunteer someone for the archivist position
I will volunteer to:
2.1 provide a chat recorder,
2.2 edit and post transcript to forums > Government Announcements > Representative Assembly Announcements,
along with the corresponding agenda and a summary of the meeting.
Example of best practice: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3833 (12 May 2012 RA Transcript)
Link to Gwyn's Transcript Colorizer: http://gwynethllewelyn.net/colour-code/
2.3 post passed legislation to forums > Discussions > Legislative Discussion.
Example of best practice: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php? ... 994#p19994 (Citizenship Notification Bill)
2.4 I *do not* volunteer to update or edit the sources provided on the portal. Instead I will invite the RA to officially appreciate the work of the current archivist, Patroklus Murakami and politely ask him to continue his contributions to the portal.
3. Set meeting times for the 18th RA.
I will move or second a move to fix day and time of the 18th RA meetings. The new RA has provisionally agreed on Saturdays 4:00 pm SLT during a preparational meeting. I will suggest to fix the dates to the first saturday of a month to have the buffer maximized in case we need to postpone a meeting.
Resulting dates: 5th of Jan, 2nd of Feb, 2nd of Mar, 6th of Apr, 4th of May (19th Term starting 1st of Jun)
Feedback welcome - if we discuss this now, we can just pass it on the meeting and go on to
4. Call a by-election so the SC can start the process.
Draft: "The Scientific Council prepared by-elections to fill the vacant seat on the 18th Representative Assembly as soon as possible. The RA appreciates a census was performed (http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php? ... 49&p=20225) and approves the subsequent dates as passed and published on the forums http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php? ... 224#p20224
We ask the SC to continue and immediately call for candidates and we encourage our fellow citizens to run for the fifth seat by dropping a notecard to the Dean before 11:59 PM SLT on Dec 7."
I am looking forward to the naugural ball noon until 2 pm.
Razzy? Ranma? Shep? Anything I missed? Mistakes? Opinions?
