Next steps for a new schloss

Post by Sudane Erato »

We hope that you all know that the RA and the Chancellor have authorized Rosie Gray and myself to begin creating a new building to replace our existing Schloss on Neufreistadt. We've been working on the building now for about a month, at a site away from the CDS so as to conserve prims.

The approved proposal was that we would work offsite on this project until such time as there was enough of a shape and style to the building that members of the community could visit it and get an idea of what they were getting. At that point, we would request comments and ideas, and request a final approval of the project by the RA and the Chancellor. Once this is achieved, the old Schloss will be removed, and the new, unfinished, one put in its place. Finally, all the detail work will be done in place in NFS to finish the building.

Well, this time has come. The new build has a very definite shape and style, and, while nothing in it is finished, the principal focal center of the building, the ballroom, is very well along. In addition, most of the other spaces of the building are shaped out and details slowly begun. We are approaching the point at which the size of the build will cause it to be more difficult to move as we go along.

Accordingly, we invite everyone in the community to visit the construction site and view the future Schloss. As mentioned, your comments and ideas will be much appreciated. I have asked Shep to add this matter to the agenda of the next RA, and we have also asked Tor to approve the project. The two approvals will enable us to move it to Neufreistadt.

I've sent a notecard containing the landmark to the construction site to everyone in the CDS group. Ask us if you didn't get it. We'd love you to visit and offer comments! It would be great if you posted ideas and comments in this thread, to keep them all in one place.

A related but very important matter. As is obvious, the old Schloss will be removed before the new one is rezzed in NFS. The old one cannot be saved, since most of the owners of its prims are not available. During the RA approval proceedings, a number of people expressed an interest in collecting photographs and video of the old Schloss for historical reasons.

Let me just say this: "Now Is The Time"!

We sincerely thank everyone for the incredible support we've received so far, and we hope to move along and look for a shiny new Schloss well in time for the next RA Inugural Ball!

Not sure if either is a forum member, reader, or poster... but I heard from both Em Warden and from Cadence Theas. Both were extremely complimentary, and Cadence suggested that we consider tapestries rather than murals/paintings.

Please consider posting comments here... thx!

I love it! Yes this is much more useful than the old one. Having looked over it will vote yes to moving it to neuf when you are ready. Keep up the good work, Bravo Zulu!!

It will be an improvement for sure. I like the ground plan. It is both resembling the RL original and the structure to be replaced. It is less vertical than I apprehended, a solid, functional building, both low prim and still fun to explore. I feel no need to enter the interior design discussion before it is placed in NFS.
As a citizen I say: yay, let's have it. Regarding the assembly: we are asked to approve the replacement now. So far I see no counter argument to let that happen under executive monitoring. That is what I would vote for atm, and I predict a broad consensus, but I am interested to read further comments for better legitimacy and training of assessment.

Thanks Ranma and Tan; I really appreciate your support with this! We are getting close to needing to move the build now, so I look forward to hearing from anyone else with their thoughts.

I went to see the new Schloss a few days ago as one of my (very rare) ventures inworld. I love it. I think it's a lovely building and much more in keeping with the evolving improvements to the sims look and feel. It is a much more usable building than the one it replaces (though I also love the quirkiness and higgledy-piggledy nature of the current structure).

Thanks to Rosie and Sudane for your work on this and to the elected representatives and other citizens who are working to make the change happen.

Dang! Is there a link to the new Schloss? I was visiting the CDS on Tuesday but couldn't find it... I suppose it's on a completely different place, way away from the CDS :)

Oh well, I'm sure that digging deep in the forums I'll be certain to stumble upon a link!

Everyone interested, please consult the CDS group notices to fetch the landmark.
