Guild Forced to Move Home

Post by Rosie Gray »

Because of changes made by the Chancellor to the Land Verwaltung group, the land-owning group of the CDS, the Guild has been rendered unable to use its home at the NFS School, on which it has paid tier since it was donated to the Guild by me in around 2007. According, we have moved the Guild home to 2005 Kendrastrasse, which is accessible both from Kendrastrasse just below the Schloss and also from the stairs behind the Rathaus.

Reposted by me from the CDS Artisan Guild thread.

I first noticed the land the school was housed on had been changed from publicly owned Land Verwaltung group land to the private NGO CDSArtisan Guild group.

There was a discrepancy in the landmark landing set for Urusulaweg which directed traffic to the school land, which was why I noticed it, since I had been trying to land in Ulrikastrausse.

I fixed the landmark setting and then IM'd Ceasar asking him about the change of ownership, which he did not know about.

He then had a discussion with Sudane who, from what I understand, had made a unilateral decision to move public land into private ownership.

The law says the school land is rented to the NGO group, not owned, and - again from what I understand - Ceasar reviewed with Sudane the needs of the Guild and created a separate setting in the LV group to accommodate the Guild members needs.

If the Guild chooses to move, that is the Guild's choice; but to say it is because the Chancellor made it impossible for the Guild to stay on school land is incorrect, as I understand it.

Now the NFS school parcel is set to 'anyone' to rez, which means it is wide open to griefers. I don't see how that is making anything useable. Our new Chancellor seems to have little understanding of how to manage land settings, nor his 'assistant'.

The ONLY reason it would be set to anyone to rez would be if Sudane left it that way after transferring it back into the LV group. I had set the school parcel, along with every other LV parcel held in CDS to "group rez only" the other day...as discussed on these forums. It was immediately after that when Sudane transferred the public land to private holding, then reverted it back to public land after Ceasar reminded her the school "rented" the land from CDS per CDS laws. Since Sudane has the powers to set to "group rez only" herself, she may have just forgotten to tie up loose ends.

Actually you didn't set them all, since I had to IM Ceasar and ask him to come and do one of the parcels you missed.

I transferred the parcel after Ceasar made changes to the LV group that rendered it impossible for the Guild to use its own home. I did so because it was I who had given the parcel to the community in the first place as a home for the Guild, and it was a parcel that the Guild has paid tier on ever since I did so. Ceasar alerted me to other complexities, and when we were unable to come to an agreement about modifications to the LV group that would be suitable for the Guild's own use of its home, I transferred the parcel back and we moved the Guild to another location. We hope to resolve this matter in an appropriate and legally compliant manner.

And, yes, it was I who forgot to reset the parcel settings to the "approved" settings. Sadly, I had other things on my mind.

There are two ways land gets set to "everyone allowed to rez" when it is not done deliberately. The first is when land ownership is changed. The second is sometimes Second LIfe doesn't run a complete update and the setting doesn't "stick" but reverts back (typically there is an approximate 4 minute loop during which time a setting might revert back instead of "sticking"). Knowing this, I went back and spot checked many of the settings the same morning but realized I might have missed some parcels the second time around. I went back and checked the next day and everything was fine. In the interim, I watched for new rezzed items on public land since that takes less time to do. Although there were a number of new items rezzed on public land, they were all by LV group members or stray prims by citizens so I wanted to review them with Ceasar before following up on them. There have been no griefer attacks. It is still a mystery how so many LV parcels which were public streets and not subject to deliberate land changes had suddenly become open to allow everyone to rez in the first place.

So the long and short of this is that CDS lost the tier the Guild paid monthly since Neualtenburg took possession of the sim. Amazing. Good job!

Tor,

Do you seriously still believe or are trying to make readers think, that the New Artisans Guild that rosie runs, has anything at all to do with the guild that was in the School since day 1? I recall Rosie disbanding the proper Guild of CDS, and creating a completely NEW organization that is NOT mentioned in CDS law anywhere, All mentions of a "guildmeister" in CDS law, refer now to the chancellor and have nothing to do with and never did, rosies NAG. It does get confusing because rosie used word "guild" but rosies guild is NOT the guild of Neualtenburg by any stretch of the imagination. So I am personally offended by you saying that this happening has one iota of anything to do with the original, or even Moons new guild.

Seriously , what was the average rate of occupancy for your four or was it five terms in office as chancellor of CDS? ... If I recall correctly, Weren't you the chancellor who tried to raise tier on ALL citizens because you couldn't keep the sims full enough to cover tier? Or were you the one who LOCKED what percent of LA for HOW LONG? and still losing tier you cost us there.

I am wondering if you said this as a joke, as it seems to me you are insinuating that this administration is COSTING cds money or revenue when your terms as chancellor cost CDS more in the way of lost potential growth of citizens and revenue than any to date.

Don't make me go get numbers.

It's sad, that such a significant historical place was wiped out this way.

Regarding the Guild's historical home at NFS School, please clarify. Rosie wrote

on which it has paid tier since it was donated to the Guild by me in around 2007.

Are you both describing the same or two separate events?

Ceasar, what/is it your intention that the Guild relocate?

Widget the post at the beginning of this thread from Rosie is a COPY of Sudane's original post in another forum that doesn't garner as much attention as our General Discussion Forum.

Cleo I am NOT responding to the first two paragraphs in your post to Tor. I am only posting to address the last paragraph. Speaking of numbers yes indeed Tor isn't insinuating he is actually speaking the truth that with its recent action this administration has just reduced revenue in the CDS by L$1,700 a month. This is the amount of tier members and non-members have been contributing out of their very own pockets to cover the tier of the school that the Guild considers home. Below is the link to google docs confirming this information that Sudane had posted in another thread on May 18th of this year. I really have to question why this decision was made by the administration that I am a member of.
A reminder regarding Artisan Guild finances

Postby Sudane Erato » Sun May 18, 2014 7:52 am

A reminder to any who may be interested that the complete ledger of Artisan Guild finances is voluntarily provided as public information and can be seen here: http://goo.gl/L8Ozz

Donations are gratefully accepted and can be made at one of the two tip jars located at the base of the steps leading up to the "Neufreistadt School", the home of the Artisan Guild. As can be seen from the ledger, donations go principally to pay the tier for the parcel on which the School is located.
