If the Guild wishes some 'continuity', then, well, they just need to approve new members, change their charter, and so forth — so long it still remains recognisable as 'the CDS Artisanal Guild', I guess it's acceptable in terms of continuity...
While what you say here Gwyn is utterly logical, my suggestion arose from acknowledgement of the fog of historical reality, which sadly isn't quite so logical. The Guild has had at least 3 permutations in CDS history, and the first two ended not so much in a "termination", but because they became inactive and were superseded by the next one. Indeed, each "Guild" has been fundamentally different than the one before. The first was a constitutional branch of government, the second was an NGO but possessed a charter issued by the government and thereby had required obligations. The third has no official recognition other than having a published charter and treasury. Yet they each clearly proceeded from and related to the previous one, and it was my intent in proposing that somehow provision be made, should it be needed, for the passing on of the School parcel to a possible successor.
Perhaps your formulation will work fine... i.e. "they just need to approve new members, change their charter, and so forth — so long it still remains recognizable as 'the CDS Artisanal Guild'". We should note that this might happen.
