Discussion on the role of the Scientific Council in the CDS

Post by Gwyneth Llewelyn »

[i:26qfhxxf]NOTE: event pushed to 4 PM to prevent any overlap with the CDS Traders' Association[/i:26qfhxxf]

Recent controversies on the Neufreistadt forums have questioned the existing role of the Scientific Council (SC) in Neufreistadt. Initially deployed as being the branch of government entrusted to 'defend and uphold the Constitution', it proceeded to establish itself as a group of people sustaining the ideals of a democratic society in SL. Recent changes in the government of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators (of which Neufreistadt is an administrative region) have suggested that the role of the SC should be to ensure the rule of law, and not ambiguous ideals.

This is a sudden but drastic change of the model of government, and it is fair to open up the discussion publicly, to anyone who wishes to attend and present their opinion, but has no time or patience to read the forums, and prefers an in-world discussion.

The discussion will take place at the Biergarten in the Marktplatz of Neufreistadt, Sunday, December 3, 2006, at 4 PM SLT.

Hehe, guess our Traders' Association meeting (scheduled for 2pm the same day in the Biergarten) had better be a quick one ;)

Ouch, Pat... my apologies, I just read the [i:1uvuf3rx]first[/i:1uvuf3rx] post on that thread, and saw the scheduled meeting for [i:1uvuf3rx]last week[/i:1uvuf3rx], not the [i:1uvuf3rx]last[/i:1uvuf3rx] post where it clearly shows (in bold, even!) that there would be a new one this Sunday.

I'm very sorry about that. I've pushed the event to 4 PM instead (yes, I want to attend both as well :) ).

Don't worry, Ashcroft, I'll run another one next week, probably at 2 PM on Tuesday, if no major catastrophes pop up at work...

4:00 --

Ack -- we had a MOCA meeting scheduled for 3:o0 and I asked the board to move it to 4:00 so I could attend. I'll see if we can reshuffle it again.

Post by Gwyneth Llewelyn »

As promised, I'll be holding the same event today, Tuesday, December 5, same place, different hour: 2 PM SLT.

I'll love to see you all at the Biergarten later :)
