No beer, no politics? | Anzere Info-hub

Post by Sleazy_Writer »

Hi,
it seems the NFS Free-Beer-Vendor in Anzere is 'broken'.
I think this is still an important hub that directs visitors to NFS
(It's also how I found NFS & CN), so it would be good if it was fixed (Dianne?)

As Anzere is still my 'home', I've heard people say: "WHAT IS THIS PLACE??",
which makes me wonder if the info about CDS is presented the right way ..
Maybe some pictures & info on the wall would help?

I very much agree. Our publicity needs some serious stepping-up.

Which at this point requires more volunteers help I believe.

I have always been open to people who wish to help. However, there are certain constraints (which I think the beer vendor fell prey to):

The telehub is set to no scripts. This means NO SCRIPTS - it's a simwide setting in this case, so only Linden scripts will work. Any vendors must be scriptless and instead use "sell contents/copy for L$0" or some similar method.

We cannot actively administrate the hub; it's Linden property. We have no object return functions, eject/ban, etc.

However, "no politics" isn't strictly accurate. I do have a "info on Neufreistadt" notecard vendor with text from the website. With the new ability to have clickable URLs, we could perhaps go one step further there.

I was talking with my fellow citizens(Caledon) and want to be (but no lots) and they are under the misconception that there are no large lots available in the CDS.
I explained the difference or tried to between lots within the walls and those in the valley.
For some odd reason they think that only small lots are available. I could with permission from Desmond (mine is residential) set up some sort of infomation center for the cds.
I still have my 512 sq meters unused on the mainland. You could set up an embassy there.
Give me your thoughts!

Maybe we could have some "For Sale" signs on the plots outside the walls? With links to the information.

Problem is that all of the larger lots are not close to the telle hub and that is probally where the misconception comes from.
There is a price to be paid for using the hub. One is that visiting residents take a quick around, say ugh and leave. We need to do better with advertising lots for sale. A web site is fine but that means they have to visit first.

The problem with NOT having a telehub, of course, is that there would be no city center, and thus the land pricing scheme would make no sense. Why pay for a spot on the Platz if you could get a larger spot outside the city for the same price and have people tp directly there? The implication is that the theme of Nstadt would be in jeopardy due to looser zoning rules outside the walls.

Ahh, I was thinking of people knowing land was for sale, but not being able to find it.

For what it's worth, I had a few moments of confusion and a bit of flying around when I was buying my land recently - but it all made sense in the end (probably because everybody was very helpful and answered all my dumb questions patiently).

How to show people there's still land available in the CDS.

I'd put the town-map, like we have in both sims, close to the tele-hub.
And not (only) use the regular map but also a colour coded availability map
like that database-linked one on the NFS site. --> *

Somebody (our "PIO"?) could upload that jpg once a week or once every two weeks onto that map near the tele-hub.
It wouldnt take much time, and would clearly show visitors what land is for sale.

Though I'm not sure how much up to date it is ... The plot I just bought (P230) is marked ...

I know Aliasi said she/we couldnt directly administer the Anzere-hub,
but just to give an impression of how much potential this info-hub has:
Our NFS Marktplatz = [b:20okwbt3]750 traffic[/b:20okwbt3]
Anzere info hub = almost [b:20okwbt3]5800 traffic[/b:20okwbt3]

5000+ more potential customers, citizens, and ... griefers! :D

Anzere info hub

Post by Samantha Fuller »

I was diverted to the Anzere info hub a month ago and noticed the broken beer vendor and quickly realized the reason it diden't work, after some time I found the info vendor and bought the packet but for some reason diden't find the landmark. That diden't leave me with a very good impresion of Neureistadt. Ended up using search to find the sim!, and i'm a reasonably experenced resident. As for what can be done set text is a property of prims once set. Therefore signs can be easly made off site where scripts work and set out there.

As for seting out For sale signs on large lots outside of the city. I went to Neufreistadt recently looking for land and the only info i found WAS a for sale sign on a large lot outside the city.

If I remember, I can adapt the "For Sale" banner I threw together for inside the city walls to something more suitable for outer plots of land. For those who may not have seen them, it says "For Sale, Click here for more information", with the banner linking to the NFS/CN perspective resident guide that Sudane compiled recently.

On a second thought, one thing we might want to consider to help combat the issue of accessibility of information within NFS is to have more prominent signing for the information center, either with a sandwich board sign in front and perhaps a CDS flag or two to help draw attention to it.
