This is the transcript, edited for easier readability. For the whole exchanges, please see the post below. This post will only contain question, answers and the LUC discussion
[14:21] RG Cooperstone (roguegeek.cooperstone): Since we're going to have an election for chancellor, I want to hear why I should vote for one of you
[14:26] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): First I want to say that Rosie is an excellent candidate, in many ways superior to myself. The CDS would do well to elect her. But I wouldn't run if I didn't believe I have something of my own to bring to the table
[14:27] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): To be blunt, I have no life and a lot of time to dedicate to being in the CDS. Budgets will be on time, there WILL be a ball, and there will be monthly "government hours" under my administration
[14:28] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Further, I have plans to expand the CDS in a way that will minimallly impact our budget.
[14:28] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): And getting the CDS out to a wider audience.
[14:29] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I have been running a user-focused festival in opensim since 2015, and that has taught me the importantce of delegating work ...and that means I will be getting anyone who wants to involved in our government.
[14:29] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): ..in short, I'll be here, I have specific ideas and I believe that I can bring positive change to the CDs in a way that doesn't rock the boat.
[14:29] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I'm done, thanks for liistening
[14:31] Rosie Gray: okay I guess it's my turn ㋡
[14:31] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held):
[14:31] Laura Azalee: it is!
[14:31] Rosie Gray: well, I guess you all know me, and what my skill sets are
[14:31] Rosie Gray: at least those of you who've been here for a fair amount of time
[14:32] Rosie Gray: I have asked Sylvia and Brooke if they would agree to being PIOs, if I should win the election
[14:32] Rosie Gray: and they've said yes
[14:32] Rosie Gray: I think as a team we can do a lot in the way of events
[14:33] Rosie Gray: and of course anyone else who likes to help with things would be welcome
[14:34] Rosie Gray: I don't have anything specific in mind other than to keep running the CDS as smoothly as possible, working with the RA
[14:34] Rosie Gray: and the estate managers
[14:35] Rosie Gray: with respect to estate managers, a lot of the management of land purchases/sales etc. has fallen to just a few of us, and I'd really like to thank Sylvia for her lion's share of that
[14:36] Rosie Gray: anyway, I can't really think of anything else at the moment, so if anyone has any questions would love to hear them
[14:37] Laura Azalee: well I have one...excuse my ignorance but...what is a PIO?
[14:38] Rosie Gray: aha, sorry about that Laura
[14:38] Rosie Gray: Public Information Officer
[14:38] Laura Azalee: ah
[14:38] Rosie Gray: they have the responsibility of working on events and p/r with the Chancellor
[14:38] Laura Azalee: I see
[14:39] Rosie Gray: anything else coming to mind?
[14:42] RG Cooperstone (roguegeek.cooperstone): I'd like to know one thing either candidate would propose to change the state of net new citizens
[14:43] Rosie Gray: are you asking how we would try to attract new citizens, Coop?
[14:43] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Or how we would change the status of citizens who are new to the CDS?
[14:43] Rosie Gray: right
[14:44] RG Cooperstone (roguegeek.cooperstone): Attract and retain people who are not previous citizens, yes
[14:46] Rosie Gray: actually, other than trying the things that we have all done before such as continuing with our advertising and holding events, and working the social media, I don't have any other idea how to attract new citizens
[14:46] Rosie Gray: I do have some ideas about some different types of events though
[14:46] Rosie Gray: that I think might be worth a try
[14:47] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[14:47] Widget Whiteberry: I'd like to hear more about that, Rosie
[14:48] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Myself, I would attract new citizens by expanding the CDS into new worlds. I am in touch with someone that is altready active in several and I would work with them to go into those worlds and increase our brand awareness there, and explore the possibility of generating revenue int hem.
[14:50] Widget Whiteberry: I've a question for both candidates: what do you see as your strengths and weaknesses in forming and leading teams?
[14:50] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): This would be a secondary issue for me, but as a lot of folks now, I've wanted to future-proof the CDS in the vent of SL closing so I would be exploring avenues to get use set up in other places, and have people who reside in those places actively in the CDS.
[14:50] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I wan t to emphasize, my primary focus will be on the CDS in SL and makeing sure the trains run on time. But expansion is on my mind and I have touched base with people
[14:50] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Done.
[14:52] Rosie Gray: to answer Widget's question
[14:53] Rosie Gray: I've already reached out with regards to setting up the PIO's
[14:53] Rosie Gray: and I think I have a good working relationship with all of the existing EM's
[14:54] Rosie Gray: I would plan to do something similar to what I did last time
[14:54] Rosie Gray: have some working spreadsheets where we can make plans
[14:54] Rosie Gray: based on the budget
[14:55] Rosie Gray: I don't think there would be any reason to change the EM's
[14:55] Rosie Gray: unless someone didn't want to work with me, I guess
[14:55] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[14:55] Rosie Gray: I do not plan on trying to do everything myself
[14:55] Rosie Gray: it's too much work for one person, and no fun
[14:56] Rosie Gray: and I believe that it's much better to get people involved
[14:56] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): (afk a sec, rl -sorry)
[14:56] Rosie Gray: find out what they are good at, and enjoy doing, and work with those skills
[14:57] Rosie Gray: I guess that's it
[14:59] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): So, to answer your question, Widget ...and thank you Laura
[15:00] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I'll start with my weaknesses with regards to people and teams. I suck up all the oxygen (time, energy) in a conversation, I have horible social phobia that often gets in the way of my reaching out to people. I can be over-sensitive which can lead to conflicts and wasted time.
[15:01] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I'm sure I have many more weaknesses that I'm not even aware of ...if elected, we'll be hearing about them, believe me!
[15:04] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held) grins "But my strenghts....what I see as my strenghts are my willingness to work with pretty much anyone who shares a common goal with me. I've worked with people who were literal enemies on projects and we finished them to completion. I am very good at delegating and I'm really, really good at knowing when to say "I don't know WTF is going on, can you help?" -I'm not too proud to admit that. I have practice working with people and taking in input and I'll be bringing that to the job of Chancellor. Like Rosie, I certainly don't plan on doing everything myself.
[15:04] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): ...and that's me.
[15:04] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held):
[15:05] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[15:06] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): One thing I'd like to throw out there...I will work to bring back the LUC which has been dormant. I bet dollars to donuts that's on Rosie's to-do list as well tho I don't want to speak for her.
[15:07] Rosie Gray: well I would like to see the LUC get back on track, for sure
[15:07] Laura Azalee: LUC meaning....
[15:07] Rosie Gray: but I don't think it's the Chancellor's job to make that happen
[15:07] Laura Azalee: sorry guys, I am new :/
[15:07] Rosie Gray: Land Use Commission
[15:07] Rosie Gray: don't be sorry Laura, it's good you ask
[15:08] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): No worries; Land Use Commision -it is a group from all branches of government
[15:08] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): which works on ...among other things...planning, landscaping of government/public areas, and approving new builds (to ensure covenent compliance)
[15:09] Rosie Gray: the LUC is an advisory body
[15:09] Rosie Gray: it makes recommendations, but not decisions
[15:10] Rosie Gray: https://cdsdemocracy.org/cds-themes/lan ... ommission/
[15:10] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): ...the Chancellor can't force the LUC by fiat, but can have influence in getting them to meet. I won't be locking anyone in the dungeon, but I'll definately be circulating and trying to get them back.
[15:10] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): if elected
[15:11] Rosie Gray: https://cdsdemocracy.org/faqs/cdsl-21-0 ... ssion-act/
[15:11] Rosie Gray: those are the two places to see what the LUC is all about
[15:11] Lilith Ivory: I´d have a question to both candidates: We got several new citizens lately. Do you have any plans about introducing them to the work of our government and making them interested in getting involved?
[15:12] Rosie Gray: oh that's a good question, Lilith
[15:12] Rosie Gray: I always try and talk with new citizens and see if they are interested at all in the gov't and community as a whole
[15:13] Rosie Gray: there are some people who really aren't at all
[15:13] Rosie Gray: and that's okay
[15:13] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I don't...but there's ways to do that which jump out at me ...mentorship, for instance; and I would look into that and probably start some exploratory steps
[15:13] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): eg setting up something like NCI for the CDS
[15:13] Rosie Gray: however, I do try to engage them to come to meetings
[15:13] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): (NCI = new citizens encorporated, which helps new users adjust to sl)
[15:14] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): f.....I talked over you. I'm very sorry, Rosie
[15:14] Rosie Gray: no problem Han
[15:14] Rosie Gray: I think that some people like to jump right in and get involved, but they seem to be the rare bird lately
[15:15] Rosie Gray: and most people like to dip their toes in gently first
[15:15] Rosie Gray: it seems to me that we are primarily a community of older avatars
[15:15] Rosie Gray: with a couple of exceptions
[15:16] Rosie Gray: and that most newbie avatars aren't all that interested in 'settling down' in a place like the CDS
[15:16] Rosie Gray: so am thinking that one on one help is best for those that need the how-to's
[15:16] Delia Lake raises her hand
[15:17] Rosie Gray: yes Delia?
[15:17] Delia Lake: What plans do you have for events?
[15:17] Delia Lake: We have some regular year to year events like Oktoberfest
[15:17] Rosie Gray nods
[15:17] Rosie Gray: well, I would like to have another Christmas party
[15:18] Delia Lake: but events do seem to draw people to our regions
[15:18] Rosie Gray: similar to the one we had last year
[15:18] Delia Lake: that was fun
[15:18] Rosie Gray: I'd also like to try having some repeat events at a regular time, maybe once a week, something like the paintball game
[15:19] Rosie Gray: that is participatory
[15:19] Delia Lake: it's not really a question but I spoke with Colt one eve recently. he's very busy in rl. but he is doing a holiday concert in rl and we talked about the possibility of livestreaming into the kirche. he's interested if it's doable
[15:19] Rosie Gray: and if it's on a regular schedule, perhaps people would get in the habit of coming ㋡
[15:19] Rosie Gray: yes sure
[15:19] Lilith Ivory: wow that sounds awesome Delia
[15:20] Sylvia Tamalyn: that sounds fun
[15:20] Rosie Gray: although I know that Tor tried to get him before and he couldn't for some reason
[15:20] Laura Azalee: oh yes
[15:20] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held) waits for a spot to interject
[15:20] Rosie Gray: go ahead Han
[15:23] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Thanks -I'll be quick. There's a difference between ideas and plans. I have tons of ideas, but as far as plans go? I will work to arrange our inagural ball, and I will set aside funds to use for events which are put on by citizens, but held in the CDS. In addition to that I will talk to some DJs I know and have them play a few shows. I'd like to do something monthly but I am not sure that it would happen. I would encourage and work with any citizens that want to set up things in the CDS though; including monthly or weekly events
[15:23] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Done, sorry that wasn't as quick as I intended lol
[15:25] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): tldr (since I babbled); I'll have a ball, set aside funds and encourage citizens to put on events
[15:29] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I'd like to make a statement right quick...I have personal limits and flaws and we know what those are. I won't oever-sell myself but I believe that even at my worse...I'm still a damned good leader. I'll make sure things get done, and I have specific plans for working around my faults.
[15:29] Lilith Ivory applauds
[15:30] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): The trains will run, the roads must roll and will
[15:30] Rosie Gray: clap clap clap
[15:30] Rosie Gray: well of course I have enough personal limits and flaws too - ain't nobody perfect!
[15:30] Delia Lake: Thanks to each of you for running
[15:31] Rosie Gray: thanks Delia
[15:31] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): It's a literal privelege
[15:31] Sylvia Tamalyn smiles at both candidates
[15:31] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): THank you...and thank you all for your questions and for being a part of the CDS and it's governance
[15:31] Sylvia Tamalyn: it will be fun to have an eleciton again!
[15:32] Rosie Gray: yes it will!
[15:32] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): On to the debates!
[15:32] Rosie Gray: it's too bad we didn't get enough candidates for the RA too to have an election
[15:32] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): That would have been nice, yeah
[15:32] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): I'm happy we have a quorum, at least >.>
[15:32] Rosie Gray: well, at least we have each other, eh Han!
[15:32] Rosie Gray grins
[15:32] Lilith Ivory: hehehe
[15:33] Sylvia Tamalyn: at least there will be no by election, right, lilith? lol
[15:33] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held) grins and raises my glass...very slowly at 6.6 fps LOL
[15:33] Rosie Gray: ha
[15:33] Lilith Ivory: not at the moment ... ask me again midterm lol
[15:48] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Ok, I'm gonna wrap this up and put a bow on it...thanks y'all for coming and hanging out and challenging Rosie and I. Thank you Rosie for a polite, informative and yes...fun...campaign.
[15:48] Hannah Marie Bloodtempestwolf (han.held): Long live the CDS
