Diderot, *you* are as much a CARE member as I am (an Observer)
I certainly hope my proposal becomes official CARE policy and will be endorsed by all CARE Activists involved in the Activities and Events taskforce.[/quote:qya9kih0]
Good point indeed. Maybe you could suggest in the CARE forum that your study group takes a meeting to discuss and vote on your proposal in order to have it elevated as official CARE policy as a way to move things forward?

Just a few clarifying questions - do you expect contributions of unique and original works - i.e. works that do not exist anywhere else in SL?
Or are you satisfied with the kind of 200L$ reprints that anyone can walk down in any gallery in SL to purchase?

If you ask me: Both
- Unique is better
- Reprint/copy is acceptable since it can still be very interesting.
In the end: Curator/MoCA-person-in-charge decides, he/she will probably prefer the unique works.

I'm supportive of the direction we're moving and I understand skepticism about things. It will take me more time than I have right now to investigate the legislative side of things so I offer no comment on it at the moment.
We're planning a meeting with the potential curator now and after that Rubaiyat or I could probably give a better idea of what the next step would look like.
TOP, could I get a list of the interested contributors from you?
In the mean time, I really do want to work with people interested in helping. Please do take advantage of that and send me a message directly as TOP has done.

Help the poor MoCA
Chicago's got my list. But we need more people!
[i:1a61e9a0]Your chance to eternal fame (hopefully), contribute to the MoCA![/i:1a61e9a0][/color:1a61e9a0]
[i:1a61e9a0]"Citizens can donate (or long time lease) the art they own or their own art to the CDS, it will be shown in the MoCA."[/i:1a61e9a0]
Hopefully we can work out w/ the MoCA Board soon, if and how this can be implemented in an acceptable but most of all *good* way.

having trouble tracking the different threads
Okay,
After the move from the previous forum I lost track of the thread. I shall try to subscribe to this thread.
I want to be part of the conversation here.
To that end I need to apologize to Chicago for not bringing him into the conversation earlier. Please realize that I have survived several instances of this board and am sorta just hanging in there.
Delia has volunteered to curate a show, this is great and this is what is necessary. I have volunteered to help Delia, a role I have fulfilled multiple times as the director of Ars Virtua. However it will be useful for the board to meet with Delia to discuss this before it is made official. (as much her choices as ours, we need to tell her what we expect and what we can do to support, eyes wide open)
Finally I want to emphasize that the MoCA has not been a burden to the city, since I stepped up to the board the bills have been paid (ask Sudane) out of my pocket. I consider this a donation to the institution, and I would not do this if I did not believe the following: 1) the institution is valuable to the city, 2) the institution can eventually be self sufficient, 3) the institution is important for SL culture.
I want to also emphasize that if for some reason you do not hear from me, it is not because I do not care it is because I am not aware. I cannot track the forums well, and do not regularly attend RA meetings. If you want to contact me, please feel free to IM me in world, I generally forward that to my email and am reasonably responsive. If you anticipate a conversation please include an email so that I can get back to you later.
Thank you for your interest, I am always heartened when the issue comes up because the thing we have lacked so far is the interest. Also be aware we are looking for a leader. Specifically a gallery director who can work with curators and the mission of the MoCA.

I hope that after a meeting with the MoCA curator and board we will be able to move on to the phase of actually accepting the works,
and start thinking and working on the actual exhibition.[/i:3uaxe60h]

Tonight I was able to have a good meeting with a number including Delia Lake who has offered to curate our first show in some time. Though Rubaiyat still has yet to meet her, I think you'll soon see and hear progress coming from the MoCA in the spirit of Rubaiyat's dreams. But don't take my word for it. Soon you'll hear others like Delia and TOP speak about needs for the museum. Please consider offering them your help and letting them guide the next practical steps forward till Rubaiyat and I have a chance to speak. I know I will.

MoCA status
Hi,
A little status update: I expect the number of donations to remain more or less the same now, although they are still more than welcome! As Chicago wrote, this weekend we will try to wrap up creating the alt for the museum, so that we will have a more organised, central way of keeping the donated and purchased works. We're also doing the necessary paperwork to make things more orderly, and I guess we're past 50% with that.
The museum is already starting to look more like a museum, we keep on adding functional things.
[i:3u6s2n4s]Don't forget to vote in that other thread to let us know what you think is the best name for the museum's alt![/i:3u6s2n4s]
Keep those creative juices flowing, and preferrably towards the MoCA!
