Music Streaming

Post by Carolyn Saarinen »

Is there a prohibition on music streaming in CN? Or am I just doing something wrong. I ask, because I tried a test today on my land and got nothing. I read up on it in the Knowledge Base and I can't see what I might be doing wrong. Help would be appreciated.

Send me an IM if we're both online and I'll take a look.
Media texture is pretty cool too, have you tried that yet?

No prohibition at all. However, if you're using a public radio stream, sometimes they may have reached max listeners/cut you off. But I stream on my land just fine.

Alas the gods of Linden Labs have just made it harder to find out who's online, but I'll give you a shout.

No, that's covered in the KB article. It's not that.

Okay I've solved my problem, and from my position of can-do tech-savvy I can now offer the following guide to music streaming:

[list:2ytzoty0]1. Read the Knowledge Base article.

2. Locate a music streaming website.

3. Select a stream.

4. Test it on Winamp, and get the actual URL.

5. Enter this in the Media tab of your land.

6. Check the audio settings in your preferences.

7. Look puzzled.

8. Bang on it.

9. Swear.

10. Repeat all the above.

11. Post on the forum and ask people in-world for help.

12. Repeat 1-9 above.

13. [size=75:2ytzoty0]Oh, and that little music control thing above the chat bar? Click 'play' on there. [/size:2ytzoty0]Ahem![/list:u:2ytzoty0]

As a side note, magnatune announced that they are opening their own private island on the grid and are including instructions on how to stream their audio streams in world.
What does that mean for us?
Another couple dozen free music streams! Woohoo

The Magnatunes streams seem to be down, for the most part, at present. However, the in-world site is well worth a visit, and I am using their podcasts on my plot; wonderful music!

What is NFS without Rammstein?

Post by Sleazy_Writer »

Since someone forgot to bring the webmaster of a "certain Portuguese .org" his/her daily cup of coffee, that webmaster removed our cool Rammstein stream in NFS. I've replaced those 6 dead streams with another classical stream, but it would be cool if someone could replace them with Rammstein again, eventually :-)

(P.S. Any reason why some public parcels don't have music? E.g. the East Road?)

With the exception of the Kirche*,
classical music can now be enjoyed on ALL public NFS roads.
