Alert: Linden land bug raises its ugly head yet again.

Post by Sudane Erato »

Last year SL software changes made it possible for the first time for individual SL residents to buy parcels on private sims such as Neufreistadt and Colonia Nova. One of the first bugs which presented itself at that time concerned residents with Basic accounts (meaning that because they pay no monthly fee to LL they are not qualified to purchase land on the mainland) being unable to purchase land on private sims.

This bug was identified, brought to the attention of the Lindens, and fixed, at least in the sims that I am familiar with.

We have now encountered this bug again, and, for whatever reasons, the Lindens have not responded with a fix. Our new citizen ThePrincess Parisi has just purchased a parcel outside the walls on CN, and has been unable to "Buy" the parcel (take possession of it). She has, of course, paid for it.

I have filed an urgent request with the Private Sims Concierege that this problem be fixed, but I've had no response for over a week.

This is a serious problem for our community I feel. We have been quite expressive in the documentation with which we promote ourselves that citizenship is open to EVERY resident of SL, regardless of their financial relationship with SL. Their relationship is, after all, entirely with us. Linden Labs has no interest and plays no part in the financial transactions between the community and the individual citizen. Its concern is only that the "Owner" pay the monthly fee.

Despite the tone of this post, I'm not much of a rabble rouser. I invite those of us who might be more effectively vocal than I to express your opinion of this matter to LL... perhaps we should pass a resolution of the RA and submit it to LL as the considered opinion of 70 people.

Please contact me if you're a bit confused by this topic... it is unfortunately somewhat esoteric. But it does have, I feel, significant implication for our definition of citizenship.

Sudane.....
